A Real World Government for Ireland

We've probably all become familiar with the narrative that no politician is in it for the good of the people. They are selfishly motivated and only in their role because they're part of a family dynasty or have made shady deals with local property developers for positive media headlines and backhanders and so on and so on.
But let's imagine for a second that due to a Dail Eireann wide infection of Covid or the keys being lost to the conference centre with everyone trapped inside that a new government needs to be formed at short notice. There is one caveat. No one can be nominated who has held a TD position at any time previously.

Below are my nominations for a number of ministers along with some details as to why they were chosen and in what way they might appear in the media once in their role. I've just gone with a number of cabinet positions and rearranged the portfolios slightly as I've done so.

    Taoiseach - Pat Kenny
    Background - Current Affairs Broadcaster
Justification - Intelligent across wide range of topics, pragmatic and diplomatic. Good communicator. Doesn't suffer fools gladly.
Possible Clickbait - Suspicious designation of 'national heritage Area' to properties adjacent to his in Dalkey.

Minister for Foreign Affairs (Tanaiste) - Sarah Carey
Background - Social and Political Commentator. Communications Consultant
Justification - Portrays a professional and disciplined image.
Possible Clickbait - Her father being a FG councillor for nearly 50 years might mean she is too much part of the establishment for some.

Minister for Finance - Michael O'Leary
    Background - CEO Ryanair
Justification - Not one to entertain frivolous spending.
Possible Clickbait - Considering an initiative to have Civil Service employees sell scratch cards to members of the public.

Minister for Justice - Billy Walsh
    Background - Boxing Coach
Justification - Expect he would be a good person on how to find the right balance between holding people accountable for their actions and identifying realistic ways to rehabilitate those that are open to it.
Possible Clickbait - Suggests sparring between cabinet members to settle disagreements.

Minister for Health - Dr Mike Ryan
    Background - WHO Executive Director
Justification - Strong advocate of prevention and preparedness and having good structures in place
Possible Clickbait - His appointment to the role is further evidence of Covid being a big 'reset' project.

Minister for Education - Julie Sinnamon
    Background - CEO Enterprise Ireland
Justification - I heard her speak at a conference once and feel she understands the fundamental need in a strong education system while obviously being very aware of the technology and skill sets in use in industry today.
Possible Clickbait - Consternation as Michael O'Leary constantly refers to her as 'Me Julie' in cabinet meetings.

Minister for Agriculture/Environment - Dr Edmond Harty
    Background - CEO Dairymaster
Justification - Farming background with very strong technology credentials who I think would find a way of getting farming on Board with sustainability while having a viable livelihood.
Possible Clickbait - Kerry accent rumoured to be giving some Dail Eireann staff members uncomfortable flashbacks.

Minister for Sport/Tourism - Maire Treasa Ni Cheallaigh
Background - TV / Sports Media / Currently a Student Dr
Justification - Proud advocate of Irish language, experienced in sporting structures in Ireland. Very aware of benefits of sport in health and wellness.
Possible Clickbait - As Mayo fall short in their quest for Sam, the Galway Girl in the Minister for Sport office may be accused of having an influence.

Minister for Transport - Conor Faughnan
    Background - AA Spokesperson
Justification - Strong advocate of the use of car/bike/bus/tram/train being prioritised in appropriate ways equally.
Possible Clickbait - Simultaneous stories of Cyclists being concerned that he is too pro-car and drivers being concerned that he is too pro-cycling.

Minister for Children, equality, disability - Rory O'Neil (Panti Bliss)
    Background - Gay Rights Activist
Justification - Strong advocate for those who don't always feel that they have a voice or are being considered fairly.
Possible Clickbait - A letter is sent to the Irish Times and signed by a number of priests expressing concern at a gay man being in such an influential position which impacts the youth of the country.

What do you think of these nominations? How long do you think this government would last and what would bring it down?
What alternatives would you suggest, and why?

(P.S. This is tongue in cheek, that's why I'm putting it here rather than in the politics forum. We have all seen the effect of putting a public figure in to a role they are unsuitable for just because they say things that sound like they can be done easily.)

The fixing of Irish politics could not be more easy. Stop the political families at the Parish Pump.

That is the only thing wrong with our political system. It is basically a hereditary bloodlines grift.

Far too much effort put into the opening post TMH, that makes you my nomination for Taoiseach :D

Rory O’ Neill should be running the Dail bar, and Mary Fitzgerald as the minister for children - she could build a children’s hospital out of toilet roll inserts.

Come to think of it, Mary Fitzgerald as the minister for infrastructure instead - build everything out of toilet roll inserts!

How long would it last? I’d give it until the weekend tbh - less Cabinet, more Cabaret.

I don't know about Edmond Harty. Nice lad and all but I think he's too close to Phil Hogan/Fianna Gael for my liking. He had big Phil over to his factory on several occasions

Willie Walsh for Tainaiste - can take tough decisions when needed

Won’t be everyone’s cup of tea, but that’s why we have elections!

Not sure if the business mind is necessarily a good one for the role of Taoiseach.
Maybe so if the person has is empathetic also.

And having 2 such minds at the top would make it too much a governance by numbers thing maybe.
