Hi I have a redmi 8t. It was a great phone up until I upgraded the MIUI to the latest version 12. Now when someone calls me the screen goes blank, and I can't hang up. The CIT says the proximity sensor isn't working. Anyone else have this issue after going to MIUI 12, from MIUI 11.

Won't resolve you proximity problem but.......
On your Xiaomi phone, find and launch the Settings app.
    Tap Accessibility.
Slide the Power button ends call switch to the right.

Is that option still in MIUI 12?

How old is the phone?, make sure a screen protector or dirt is not blocking the sensor?

Thanks for the tip, I've activated that option now. The phone is under 2 years old, protector is gone and I've cleaned all along the top of the phone. Not really sure of the exact location of the sensor though, any idea of the location yourself.

Sensor is under/around the selfie camera.

    x1080

Just disable the sensor, then when on a call hold your phone so that it leans on the top end and makes minimal ear contact.

I wish I had that option. This phone doesn't give the option to turn it off.

MIUI 12 removed that option in an update.

You said that you used CIT, but did you use additional tools to re-calibrate the sensor?

    Sorry for not replying sooner.
I tried that but unfortunately no luck. The calibration icons are greyed out. Would bringing the MIUI back to version 11 solve the issue?
BTW, Thanks everyone so far for your help

As it's a sensor failure, I doubt very much rolling back the MIUI would resolve it.

2 year old device, how good is the battery in it, at this stage?

It probably not worth the cost of getting sensor (& battery) replaced?

Surprisingly the battery and overall usage of the phone is still very good, apart from this proximity sensor issue. Would it cost a lot to replace it?

Anyone hazard a guess as to how much it would cost to replace the proximity sensor?

Randomly happens me with Facebook calls with Miui 12. Maybe one in ten. Can't do anything until other person hangs up.

Yeah it's very annoying. At least it's only random for you, mine is constant :(
