I see the younger folk are still wearing their thermal exploration North Face/Canada Goose clothing, how will these people cope with the summer weather? Should a government grant be made available to buy a tank top or trade their jacket in for a gillet?

They'll be wearing their mankini's next month when the weather gets a bit warmer

I think the look is a big Canadian Goose Jacket, Short, White socks and sliders for the Summer.

With the price of those Canada Goose jackets I wouldn't take mine off either if I could afford one.

Most of those jackets are "cannada goose"

Their goose will be cooked. Unseasonably cold right now however, almost appear justified wearing them

Let's be fair to the shams that wear this type of clothing. They were probably brought up thinking daily showers, using deodorant and changing your clothes regularly might make them into a sissy. So the smell of sour sweat and embedded dirt on their coat cuffs might just prove their manliness to themselves

You'd think the inability to run in sliders would make them a massive occupational risk factor for many of the wearers of this get-up.

Don't own those brands but I'm still wearing my coat most days, it's not that warm yet.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,300 ✭✭✭✭razorblunt

The jackets are knock off, probably padded with tracing paper.

These aren't normal coat levels of warmth, they're winter sports jackets allegedly designed for skiing/hiking/mountaineering and insulated to sufficient levels. At least the real ones are.

Yeah, I saw one try to run in them sliders on the tv show inside the K. fcukin ejit, he didn't get far. They don't look good either, the only place I would wear them is in some hot country like Spain at the beach.

Are sliders just sandals with a new name?

Used to be sold on Moore st

Delivery service in operation for the flats since lockdown

My Post from a few months back...

Huge amount of fakes going around.

Pre covid a shop on Moore st selling knock off versions of Canada goose. Haven’t a clue if the shop is still there

Lad I worked with in spar has one.

Looks very similar until you examine the logo on the sleeve “Cananda goose”

Type of flip-flop that really are not meant to be worn anywhere except the pool/gym; but were de rigeur, with fluffy white sport socks, in Dublin last year for some reason.

You can't even walk normally in them let alone run!

I think they were always there but they've become very popular since the major fashion houses started producing them and the caused the Nike/Addidas ones to take off also.
They are essentially a sandal tough.

    Sliders popular because

    Relatively inexpensive
Big fcuk off logo on it to be seen

I live in Scotland so a decent winter jacket is well worth its value, especially the more North you go but even the “proper” Canada Goose ones are far too much at the best of times. Just as they were taking off, a woman at work had one and she’d wear it from November through to March and I’d honestly say we have a dozen days, max where it may have been warranted. More often than not she’d arrive on jacket open, roasting and trying to cool herself down.

Still ... had to make sure the label was seen!

But when your exploration is at max to gather in a group wearing the same attire outside a chipper in Cabra to make TikTok videos the professional gear is over kill.

Suppose if they worked or had to pay for such goods they actually wouldn't have them.....

Just want to get up to speed here. Do we hate North Face/ Canada Goose, or is it the young people, generally, we should be going after? I'd hate to be directing my latent anger at the wrong target.

Had a look at Canada goose website and was shocked at the price. Mad money and there wasn't a single one I thought I'd buy even at regular money, 100 euro or so. I've no doubt they're decent quality but for our little scobie friends to be buying them at that price is just ridiculous. Must be mainly knock offs are they?

I'm not sure I think Canada Goose has sort of got a bad reputation over the last few years.
However I think people think it just looks stupid when you wear a very warm jacket with shorts. It's a little like turning the heating on and opening the windows.

Yep. Knock offs in the main although I wouldn’t doubt that some of the “dealers” can afford the real thing

There was some coverage about genuine North Face / Canada Goose jackets were being given by dealers to their runners as the drug trade version of a performance bonus last year, around the time that lad got chopped up.
