Random DMEs around the country.

29-04-2021 10:14PM#1What is the reason for the various DMEs that are dotted around the country, e.g. GTG, WTP, MCM? They are in remote areas and from what I can make out seem to be unlinked to any SIDs, STARs, etc. If they were VORDMEs it would make sense (to me, anyway).

They are extra DME stations to aid enroute RNAV navigation. Non GPS positions are preferably determined as DME/DME fixes without the need for a VOR station.
