    hi all,

I have an olive tree thats been doing ok in a large pot on my deck.
I am thinking it would do much better in the ground.

I know its not normally a great idea to move plants while they are growing during spring, but would it be ok to move a plant from Pot to ground ?

    Thanks
    Rob

Generally yes. Make sure the ground you put it into is well watered first, and tease out the roots a bit if they're too compacted. Then it should be fine. Where I've had saplings and other sizeable plants that have been in the way of some work, I'd often lift them, throw them in a pot for a year (or two) and then plonk them in a hole when a suitable new location was identified, regardless of the time of year.
