Boards is not a medical forum so please don't ask for health advice.

My understanding is that you'd take what you are given on the day, or refer to your doctor if you have underlying health issues or risk factors such as age that would change that.

IIRC without looking up the stats blood clot risk from taking the contraceptive pill is at least a thousand times higher. And risk of dying from Covid is orders of magnitude higher again.

On a lighter note alcohol thins your blood so I'm planning a celebratory tipple

The blood cloths are a big issue for me, but not just that the efficacy is lower. A recent study suggested the astrazeneca vaccine is much weaker at protecting you from the South African variant than Pfizer vaccine. Also everyone I've met who's had the astrazeneca vaccine was very sick after. And everyone I met who took the Pfizer vaccine had no side effects after.
I would just feel a bit worried about taking it compare to the Pfizer vaccine

Talk to your GP if you have concerns about your health.

Given that the clots are rare AND have a known treatment, I would hope to see AZ and J&J get rolled out more widely to ppl who are happy to take the lower clotting risk of a vaccine than COVID.
