    Hi,

If buying second hand goods from the UK such as video/audio equipment or fitness equipment, is vat and duty added on or is that just for new goods?
    thanks.

It depends on the seller. Is it a business? There is a messy Margin Scheme for some goods.
Importing them probably incurs VAT though, but I'm very open to correction on this.

VAT payable on import. Should be free of UK VAT.

Charges on import apply the same whether the item is new or second hand.
