Three is the only option for 5G on PAYG.

Vodafone only have 4G+ speeds on 2 PAYG plans but they're capped at 10GB (Chat Extra) & 20GB (Smart Extra).

I’m also waiting for Vodafone to launch a 5G PAYG option. 5G on Three is pretty good around the City and certain rural areas but general 3G and 4G coverage isn’t as extensive as Vodafone.

I’m seeing around 200mb+ on Vodafone 4G around Cork City.

I was on the Vodafone website the other day and a survey popped up asking if I’d be willing to pay €3-€5 for access to 5G so I assume they are planning something.

Neither of the Vodafone plans are good value but they can’t be beating on quality.

Except Three are faster on aggregate and on topline speeds

Vodafone were quality in 2008, now they're fairly meh for a pretty meh price.

True, I get >700mb on Three in many areas around Cork. It’s when you get outside the City and into remote locations you see the advantage Vodafone have. This advantage is diminishing though with Eir rolling out new sites.

The multi band spectrum award is critical for the Vodafone and especially Eir who currently have pathetic 4G spectrum.

My problem with that Speedtest report is Vodafone have limited max speed to 10mb on most plans which is probably skewing the results.

You’d be looking at €35-45 with Vodafone for a decent plan with 5G, VoLTE and WiFi calling.

You're completely correct but at the same time having your cheap users speed limited means that premium users will face lower load when testing.

I've a VF work phone and Three personal + a Gomo test sim and my own anecdotal experience is VF never really shine. At home rn: VF 19Mb, Three 110Mb. Im surrounded by VF and Three sites, neither should have issues.
