    As a newcomer to Boards, can I submit a simple question? Is there an annual charge for GSM capability?, i.e., a SIM card.

    If there is a SIM card involved to connect any system to the outside world, then it is using some provider/ providers network, then just like a mobile phone, it has to be paid for.

    what are you using the GSM signal for?

    If using for the likes an GSM intercom, €5 every 6 months will keep the SIM active with Vodafone
