Hot water cylinder noise

    Hi,

    Recently i noticed my water cylinder is making a strange hissing like sound during the middle of the night when the timer kicks in. It will make noise for a couple of minutes then stop then repeat again after about 20-30 min.
    Anyone know what the problem might be or is this normal?

    That's normal while water is heating.

    Is there any way to make it less noisy? i can hear it from my bedroom at night and never really heard it before.
