    Hi Everyone
Thinking about using the Calor offer for a free boiler to change to gas from oil fired. Current oil burner is about 18 years old. The gas wont be on the mains, it'll be a tank out the back. Is it a good or bad idea? House size is four bed again approx 18 years old.

Take a look at this recent discussion:

LPG isn't necessarily cheaper than oil as you get less energy from it.

You should be asking why their giving you a "free" gas boiler :)

Stick with oil. Oil boilers are simple. Gas is a headache with servicing costs standing charges. No new gas boiler will last 18 years either

not completely up to date, but it gives a pretty good idea of the comparative costs of different energy sources, and the heat you need into the house will not change signifcantly, a new gas boiler may be more efficient than an old oil boiler, but not to the extent that it will make up for the big difference in price between oil and gas.

Shore, if it was easy, everybody would be doin it.😁
