Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

3 Broadband Unlimited -2 Q's

I'm considering buying the pay monthly 3 Broadband Unlimited package and I had a couple of queries for anyone that might know, thanks.

    1. Which of the three routers is the best to go for? It's gives 3 options - Huawei B535, Huawei E5576-322, and Huawei E5577-320.

    2. The fair usage of 750GB. Does that mean:
    (a) access stops at 750GB
    (b) access slows down at 750GB
    (c) access continues as normal but you end up with a large bill.

    Thanks.

Meant to add - it's the €29.99/month 4G SIM one I'm talking about.

AFAIK, the broadband plan still allows internet connection over 750GB, BUT they charge per MB. There is almost no reason to sign up to 3 broadband, get a PAYG phone SIM instead, it's cheaper (20e), more data (unlimited) and no extra charges.

Get an unlocked router elsewhere as 3 don't unlock routers even after contract ends and they would also probably restrict use of a phone SIM in any router they provide with a broadband contract.

Cheers. PAYG would definitely offer some peace of mind about getting a huge bill. Is the data on their PAYG sim actually unlimited?

It's unlimited for all practical purposes, they used to quote 2TB as the limit but even that is twice what some FTTH providers allowed a couple of years ago.

While they don't throttle per se, their network "self" regulates via congestion but that's the same with the 30e broadband plan.

Nice one, thanks to you both. I’ll grab an unlocked router on Amazon so and get one of them.

Depending on budget, look for a 4G+ router (capable of 300Mbps), 4G on it's own has a max of 150Mbps.

Does anything need to be set up on the prepay SIM in a phone first before putting it in a router?
