Need Passport Number For Surgery in Turkey

hello guys i renewed my application 2 months ago as it is out of date and i still have not received it back in the post? im am flying to turkey in late july/early August and the Clinic needs a passport number before i can fly in , is this a case of an emergency passport just to receive the passport number or should i wait ?
