    Hi All,

We are planning of buying a property in RockField Newtownmountkennedy. This is been sold off plans and hence there is no option to view the show houses.
The house price is within our budget and commute to Dublin looks good. Can anyone help on understanding how this area is and is there anyone who have bought houses there? Ant help is appreciated. Thanks.

There isn't a lot in Newtown, but thankfully there is Dunnes Stores. It is also close to the country side which is nice.

I would strongly suggest that you try the commute a few times at the applicable times. It can be horrendous, depending on what part of Dublin and time of commute.

Sorry I can't help with this.

Travel times of 40 minutes by car to Dublin, according to the brochure, may be true in the middle of the night. Not a hope this is the case in rush hour traffic.

I live close by and yeah in rush hour you'll be closer to 1hr 30mins depending on what part of Dublin you need to be.

There isn't a lot in Newtown. Few shops, take aways etc along the main street, and a Dunnes Stores for food shops.
I think there's one primary school, not sure about secondary schools.
Greystones isn't too far by car and has a lot more options for cafe's (too many!) and shops etc.

I moved from south county Dublin to Greystones ( lived there for 2 years ) and now Newtown ( last 4 years).

Honestly it really depends what your looking for, as a town it has everything you would need for your day to day, in terms of commute I had to travel to Sandyford for work and thankfully am in a role where I am not on a set time, if I aimed to get in for say 08:30 it would have me leaving around 7:50, coming home again around 40 mins obviously this is to Sandyford.

With regards to social life its no different than when I was living in Greystones, I can still get to ireland games, gigs in town and meet up with mates in dublin for pints and get the bus home even the finnegans nitelink if i decide to stay out later than I had planned. myself and the wife can leave a car in greystones and get a taxi down if we want to try out the numerous restaurants there as well.

With Rockfield you will be 5 mins from a bus stop that brings you directly to Dublin city centre, if you lived in say Glenheron/ Seafield or one of the newer estates in Delgany you haven't any public facilities to get to these places if you need them.

As said above my lifestyle hasn't really changed since I moved, still 10 mins drive from the beach one way and 10 mins the other way I am walking in the mountains and when we open up I will again be socialising in Bray, Greystones and Dublin .

Anyone know about another phase of Rockfield in Newtown that is going to be launched? Any idea of dates, prices? Anything at all?

Hi All - waiting with bated breath for the launch of phase 3, it seems slow. I wonder what prices will be like :O
