    Hi Guys,
We are looking at building a house in Cork and going with direct labour. Where would you advise to purchase our building materials? I have heard of people going to Northern Ireland for insulation etc... Is it worth it?

If you're building a house then you can design the price into the house. For example using approx 200mm EPS insulation in the floor instead of 150mm more expensive PIR insulation will give you around the same thermal performance. You'll have to do the design and calculations to work it out exactly but a similar process can be done for everything like walls, roof, etc. This presents far more potential savings than shopping around.
