Public Consultation - Right to Request Remote Work

I didn't see a thread on this, there have been various surveys and consultations on flexible and remote working and it can be hard to keep track of them.

    https://www.gov.ie/en/consultation/1aaac-public-consultation-on-the-introduction-of-a-right-to-request-remote-work/

During the Covid pandemic, many public servants were begrudgingly told to WFH and as soon as Covid cases fell in summer 2020, were ordered back to their offices. This was in spite of the fact that:
    • By any objective assessment many (albeit not all) had been working productively and at least as well from home as they had in the office
    • The Covid public health guidelines stated that employees should WFH where possible
This ordering back happened in organisations such as the HSE  Utter hypocrisy and stupidity that the Health Service Executive allowed individual managers to ignore Health guidelines designed to protect the Health Service hospitals from being overwhelmed with Covid cases

This nonsense doesn't augur well for post Covid WFH in the public service so important that employees get submissions in.
