    Has it been bled?

    Was it ran without oil?

If you take off the cover where the red light comes on you will have access to the pump and Allen key bleed valve.

Some rags, kitchen towel, gloves if you have them....

Press the red button and open the bleed valve, you may have to do so a few times.

    Where is the red light?

The push button inside the red cover, you press that to re start if it cuts out.

Happened to me on a little used boiler, only three years old. It was the photo lens, lockout lens or magic eye or whatever else people call it.

There is no red light visible from the outside.

Do I need to unscrew the cover to gain access to the red light?

So the outer cover needs to come off, then you will see the boiler itself, insulation and the red cover which house the burner and electrical components and pump.

You will see the Flexi pipe/hose going into the bottom.
There will be up to 3 screws to remove the red safety cover.
You will then see the Allen key bleed valve to the very left.

Be careful not to remove the wrong one though as there is one that's there to control flow etc....

    Was the oil turned on?

Check level and if turned on.

Was the boiler commissionined and the passport (little green book) that came with the instruction books filled out and copy returned to the manafactures ?
That's to activate your warranty and insurance.
They even provide a FREEPOST envelope for you and put big stickers on the boiler to remind you.
The instruction book is very informative and firebird are very obliging too.
