    Hi,

I'm due the NCT next week, and I'm just wondering would they fail me on a faulty seat? The drivers seat won't lock back down after I lifted it to let somebody in the back seat - when I'm driving it's no bother because my weight keeps it down. I had asked a garage before about it and he said I'd need a new seat, but is it possible to do a patch job? It's only a runaround car and it's nearly on its last legs anyways so don't want to spend too much on it if i'm going to be upgrading soon.

    Thanks.

    Thanks.

If any it would be visual retest, no fee.

That being said I would not dare to drive it. Your body weight suddenly disappears on an event of sudden decceleration...

Definitely a fail. A second hand seat should be a very cheap and easy fix though.

I would say possibly even a fail dangerous.

    What car?
I had this on my mk5 golf and it was a 5e fix.

    Fairly dangerous allright.
I think the first gen minis front seats didn't lock down and people would get ejected out via the windscreen,
No seat belts back then either .

    Thanks.

Definitely a fail according to the NCT manual (attached).....
Not sure how the seat works but I think that some 3 door cars had a cable operated mechanism for tilting the seats to let people in the back. Might just be a case of getting a replacement cable.
