Is it okay to put grazon pro on docks?
I have it at home for gorse

Where I am spraying is where we will cut silage in a few months.

Will knock them but won't kill them, very expensive way to treat docks

    Waste of money imo

    What you recommend instead?

    Sorry

    Grazon will treat docks

Work away with it by knapsack, you could also use lupo

    Thanks.

I only have around. 1 or 2 knapsacks to spread so figured wouldnt be worth my while buying something else.

I have heard that this grazon kills the notorious weed mares tail anyone any experience of this as it is fairly expensive.

No harm to spot spray them, but if you don't figure out what caused them to grow in the first place guranteed they'll come back.

A dock problem is generally a sign of soil compaction and possibly overuse of slurry.

If you are using a Knapsack then use roundup. No point lugging around a knapsack and using a weak weedkiller when you are spot spraying

Does roundup kill it for good or just knock it back for the year?

    Kills the plant complete.
Doesn't mean you wont have docks later on as the seed could be in the slurry you are spreading.

I doubt you'd be spreading dock seeds with slurry, you could get it from FYM possibly. Dock seeds are likely in the ground already as they can stay dormant for decades and the compaction brings them up.

Ploughing the ground brings them up more. Loosens the dormant seeds.

Even Docks with large root crowns ?

I hate seeing anyone using roundup for spot spraying, firstly it doesn't kill nettles as good as grazon it only multiplies them, secondly it kills a whole square and allows weed to grow without competition and thirdly I don't like seeing the yellow patches around the field,
If you use a selective spray like grazon the grass will take over where the weed was

    Thanks wrangler.

So you think grazon pro would be fine?

    Would agree with that.

I use nothing else anyway, It really works well, it kills briars as well
    But I don't have docks

Grazon pro great stuff for spot spraying. If you use round up for spot spraying it’ll also kill grass around it. Better just kill the weed and let the grass have a chance around it.

Yea I’d agree as well. Roundup is probably the worst thing you can use for spot spraying. As Wrangler said, it kills everything and leaves bare soil for weeds to fire up in with no competition.

Depends on the dock Bush. If you can touch stem with end of nozzle there should be damn all grass wiped out.

It's your back you're lugging the knapsack on

Increase in the use of roundup in inappropriate locations like Hedge bottoms and river banks has allowed this noxious weed to spread significantly in the last few years.

I was given forefront t for my silage field but reading online there and it says not for use in hay/silage field until last cut taken.

I tried various stuff on Mares Tails with no success.
I then used a strong mix of Bush and Shrub killer and it worked 100%

The only issue with Forefront is you will kill root crops if you spread the slurry/dung from any silage treated with it.If thats not an issue for you I think its the best spray for docks.

Grazon Pro will kill mares tail (we call it horse tail!) but Roundup or any of the glyphosate weed killers will not.
It costs roughly €70.00 per Litre, should do 5 to 6 knapsacks.
Obviously it's too early to spray yet, June / July is the best time.
Mare's tail is like Japenese Knotweed very difficult to eradicate, it can take years !

Gallup undiluted and use a paintbrush and give the horse tail a good soaking will get rid but it will take a while, jesus it's a quare weed when uncontolled.
