    Hi,

I was wondering if anyone have any assistant or a list of agents in Ireland for screenplays. It seems a bit bereft of agents out there.

    Cheers.

There’s not a lot of pure Irish agents in general though a lot of UK based agents will work in the Irish market. Take a look at Writers’ and Artists’ for a list of people who are advertising.
However you are better off doing some more research and finding out who is who in the Irish market place. Writing courses are a good way to make contacts with folks who’ve already placed contracts. If you don’t know much about who you are sending too then your chances of success are low.

    Hey,

    Many thanks.

I was wondering if anyone knows about how certain competitions for screenplays work.

For example, if one entered a screenplay and it came first and the screenwriter was to win, for example €20,000, is there an effect on the rights of the screenplay?

Have you tried the writers yearbook?

There's almost zero chance of a professional agent reading an unsolicited screenplay by someone unknown so the contests are a much better avenue. The rules for each competition will be found on the respective website of the organization running it.
