    Not even sure if this is the right place for this but here is a high end question.

    If the government publishes public reports have I got the right to request the data used to compile them? There would be no sensitive info contravening GDPR in the situation I am talking about.

    In theory, yes you can make an FOI to see same. In practice you may find that some of the information may be redacted or held back. It's hard to say for sure until you make an application. Any report worth it's salt will be based on decent research so at worst you'll get some satisfaction.

    You can request anything in an FOI request, they can "decide" if they will comply. but It might be a significant volume of infomation.

    Note that the government / government organisation publishing the report may not actually have the data or have the data in the desired format. The report may have been procured from a consultancy or otherwise. There may also be no data as the repost is based on advice or long-term experience.
