Replacement logbook

Looking for some advice as am going in circles at the moment.

Seems somewhere in the great covid spring clean that's been going on for the last year the log book for one of my cars has gone out. I've got the form filled out to get replacements but for the life of me cannot find out who the postal order needs to be made out.

I've tried emailing motor tax email addresses and getting no where, just automated responses. Tried ringing local motor tax office in Dublin and it just rang out and left me on hold. No idea if they're actually taking calls or not.. I can't get my car NCT'd without the log book

    Any help would be appreciated

I've never been once asked for my log book and often times haven't had it with me either.

Make it out to motor tax office.

You don’t need the logbook for the NCT. Just bring ID.

The RF134 form says it needs to be sent to your local motor tax office.

If you look at the checklist it's required
    https://www.rsa.ie/en/RSA/Your-Vehicle/Your-Vehicle-/Preparing-for-your-NCT-/
    Documents required at the NCT
Ensure you bring your vehicle registration book, registration certificate or licensing certificate with you to the test centre.
You bring identification in the form of Driving Licence or Public Services Card with you on the day of the test. Failure to provide identification will result in the vehicle not being issued with an NCT certificate at the time of the test.
Ensure you bring your test fee including any applicable cancellation fee, payable by cash, laser card and all major credit cards. (excluding American Express)
But, they will still test car, they will just not give you the cert until you come back with the logbook.

So, go test car and hope they forget to ask :)

I've been asked for it before and refused a test without it in Fonthill. Guess I got someone on a bad day. I know where to send the form just not who to make the postal order out to... might risk making it out to "motor tax office" so and hope for the best.

    Thanks lads!

It is motor tax office, that's all that's needed, also it's free post so no stamp required.
Just write in full address and free post in big.

I have always been curious about this Freepost thing. Where on a Government website does it say that it is Freepost for anything motor related? I have searched and searched and other than people mentioning it here on Boards.ie, I have never been able to find anything official on it.

Anything on a government address is freepost if you write it.

I've done it that way for years.

Don't be holding out for a quick turnaround of the replacement logbook.

I sent off for one nearly a month ago and still no sign.

Thanks for the estimate.. at least I have something to tell the Gardai if they stop me about it, between that and the deferral of the NCT it's been a nightmare. And yes I'm well aware no NCT means I shouldn't drive but the car is taxed and insured and with 3 kids under 6 I've little choice than to take the risk they'll impound the car

Update from someone somewhere who replied to my query: make it out to your local motor tax office :) Alternatively they said pay by cheque or attach card details to the form when sending it in (yeah right lol)

Didn't say it was issued online and you just haven't received it, or they haven't even processed it yet?

I traded my car in last week, and the dealer has some sort of access where they can see if the replacement application has been received.

It hadn't been logged as received, let alone actioned.

Dealers can do it all online, no sending off of forms once they have the VLC and the number on the front top corner.
