Recently purchased a Google Pixal 4A and I am having difficulties transferring data from my old Huawei phone using the cable and method suggested. Is this common problem with the Pixal 4a. Can anyone recommend a quick way of tranferring data contacts etc. that works. Thanks

Contacts will automatically transfer through Google account with no setup

Likewise with photos if you are using Google photos

If you're not then back photos to google photos now

Without cable new phone setup will give you option to download same apps as previous phone so not required there either

No need for a cable. Google should have everything backed up in the cloud and will do the transfer. It should transfer contacts, call logs and messages. You'll have the option of transferring photos but there's no need as they're in Google Photos.

When I moved from a Huawei to a Pixel the only issue was that all the apps didn't automatically install. This turned out to be a good thing as it weeded out apps I rarely used. (You can manually add them again from your library in the Play Store if you need a missing app).

Thanks for the replies. I was hoping that the apps would move across without issue as they require activation codes etc. Didn't know if it was me or the phone as usually apps move across.
