Covid in NCT Centre Mullingar

    My car is currently on the extended NCT grace period due to expire in early May 2021.

    I've had two appointments cancelled at short notice due to what they say is "operational reasons"

    One appointment was due in early April was cancelled 24 hours of the appointment, booked another on for later this month and it was cancelled again today with the same text message quoting "operational reasons"

    Called the NCT phone today, they told me its due to an outbreak of covid, seems odd to me as my appointment is two weeks off yet.

    Anyone else seeing this?

    Asked them what if I get stopped by the Gardai, she said just tell them to call us we have it on record you attempted to book your appointment.

    Someone else mentioned it in another thread.

    The Gardai knows there are issues with NCT so I wouldn't worry about it if stopped.

    Check here in case it has been extended again https://www.ncts.ie/1101

    Yeah not too worried about it, but I'm also not surprised theres covid in this centre, was there in March with another car, people sitting ontop of each other inside and it a nice fine day outside.

    Surprised to see little sanitation going on when the tester took my car, touching keys when car has keyless entry etc. Was in with the main dealership week before much better setup:

    * you pop key into a plastic pouch,
    * disposable steering wheel covers
    * disposable seat cover.
    * All contact points wiped down

    NCT guys need to catch up.

    Seems to be different standards across NCT centres. I was in Naas NCT centre 4 times recently (2 cars for NCT and a retest each) and it was quite well managed from covid perspective.

    Only 1 person allowed into reception to hand over keys etc. No waiting allowed indoors, you had to wait outside. Testers all had face masks and fresh gloves and seat covers. Windows opened on cars and left open when ready for collection.

    Overall it was quite good, so its a bit confusing that other centres such as Mullingar are lax in their standards.

    All that rubbish does nothing for Covid prevention, you know?

    Galway centre isn't good. All the testers go into the small box where the person you present and pay to is sitting, no one has masks*

    *this is from my friend who was there a week ago.
