How to cover water tanks in the attic

    Hi,

I have 2 cold water tanks in the attic and I want to cover them to stop flies, dust and rockwool getting into the tanks.

What would you recommend I use? I guess I could insulate them too while I am at it. Is there something I can buy to cover and insulate?

What are they doing in the Hyacinth House?

if standard sizes just pick up tank cover in builders merchants, if not. Maybe a sheet of PIR with foil sides cut to size to site on the tops of each.

Thanks listermint. So I just ask for 'tank covers'?

What is PIR? Like Kingspan insulation?

Any Foam Insulation with foil sides should do. bearing in mind the tanks get condensation on them so the foil would reflect that.

I bought my tank cover from plumbingproducts.ie
It arrived just a lid with my address label stuck to it

Postman then asked where I had purchased from as he too wanted to get one,
Wasn't expensive and easy to purchase rather than going around local DIY shops to check there stock.

My tank is 55 x 20 (inches). I don't see a corresponding lid for those dimensions on that site. Seems odd.

Is there not a requirement for an air vent?

The over-flow pipe should provide ventilation as it exists higher than the regular level until the ball-cock ever fails.
