    Hi

I am looking to get rid of some Fur's bushes in a glen.

Whats the best way of removing these?
Do i have to dig the root or can i pull them with a rope?

Was reading about it in New Zealand where its invasive and very hard to get rid of. It acts as a nursery for native trees as it protects them from grazing etc, the trees grow up over the furze, shade it out and kill it off. If you wanted a more traditional and manageable hedgerow in its place its an idea, it can be hard to get rid of otherwise. Burning or levelling will only encourage new growth and new seeds sprouting.

They are around 6 ft tall,
There are probably about 20 of them spread out over the glen. Would be easy to get rope around them and try and pull them. But wondering if it will pull the root as well

It will, but they will come again from the roots/seeds as another poster has said.

I would suggest pull if you can, and then spray any shoots with grazon while they are still young...

Only last Saturday I pushed off similar furze with the loader bucket and power box. Plenty roots came up, but also plenty stayed. But I got a good clearance to be fair.
I’ll just hand spray the regrowth with Grazon 90.
After that grazing and topping any straggler should keep them under control.

Rooting only makes things worse, waxing is the most popular nowadays afaik...

Are you not afraid of it being out of season now?

Chainsaw. Paint fresh cut stump with glyphs. Spray any regrowth with grazon.
