Don't think the CAT were that reliable, nearly bought a TH62, looked a lovely well designed machine, but apparently transmission gave a lot of bother. Massey Ferguson will be hydrostatic which I don't like. Have a JCB 530-70, from new in 2000, it's bullet proof.

Thanks so I leave them, manitou or jcb seem to be the most popular, merlo seem good too

Manipoop as their sometimes affectionately called sometimes

Honestly don’t know why as I’ve no experience with them.

JCB would be my preference out of them from what I've heard. Toying with picking up a JCB TM model.

Finding a JCB 530 / 535 range that hasn't been dogged to bits on sites is the issue.

JCB is far more robust and reliable for farm work, and there is lots of knowledge out there on fixing them. Get a Farm Special if you can. Big issue is trying to get one with low hours or one that hasn't been abused.

Manitou and Merlo would be next in line, people who have Merlo's seem to love them. Merlos used to catch fire a lot... from memory.

Don't buy a Cat if it has the chain mechanism for the telescopic boom, they always give trouble, in my experience
