Setting Meadows for Silage

    Anyone got a ball park figure on how much per acre silage meadows are going for to set? its good quality ground but needs spray for thistles in one part. no fertilisr put on yet

    Are you spreading the fertiliser? Is there maps going with it ?

    I’m based in the midlands, I was only having this discussion with a big dairy farmer today who rents in all his meadow and a lot of ground for zero grazing.

    Fertilised first cut meadow is making €170 to €200 an acre here depending on ground conditions and time since reseeding. All to be gone off the field before the end of May.
