    Hi All
We have 2 9 month old cats and we're eager to let them explore the garden. Probem is we live not too far from a busy road and are terrified they would wander onto it and get hit
We were thinking about a wireless cat fence, the type you bury a wire around a portion of the garden and then they wear collars that emit a sound or shock when they get close to the boundary.
Does anyone know if these actually work, and has anyone any experience with them.
    LOoking at something like this

    Any help would be fantastic

Honestly no, these barely work on dogs, even less likely to work on cats. Cats are nervous enough creatures as is without introducing this.
If you’re looking for a safe way to let your cats out into the fresh air in your garden, the only way to prevent them escaping is by having a “catio”. It would be a much safer and kinder investment. Or if you have walls or fencing around your garden you can get cat proof wiring to stop them being able to jump out over.
This is the catio I have and my three adore going out there every day. They can still see all the birds etc around the garden, find nice sunny spots to lay out it, but there’s absolutely no risk of them getting out on the road or killing any creatures in the garden.
