Buying tyres online - let fitting service know beforehand?

    Hi all,
I've bought many tyres online and usually get the delivered directly to myself. However, due to the size of tyres I'm getting (and 4) getting them delivered to myself doesn't make sense.

If I get them sent to a "fitting partner" per eiretyres for example, do I need to let them know first, or can I get them delivered to the fitting partner and then rock up to have them fitted when they're delivered?

    Thanks

Its been a good few years since I ordered tyres online and I'd hope it's improved since.

The 2 times I ordered them to the garage, they arrived at the house. When I went to the closest place eiretyres had listed as a partner they claimed no knowledge of any prices from eiretyres and just charged their normal fee that was about a fiver a tyre dearer than the site said.

I've had them delivered directly to a mobile fitter before and always called or texted him first to let him know what tyres they were and roughly when they'd be arriving.

most tyre fitters would prefer if you bought through them

Ring the local tyre fitting service and ask.
Even eiretyres wants you to ring fitter first.

A phone call would just be a nice courtesy. Also you'd probably have to book an appointment now cos of covid so mo harm ringing to let them know about delivery and ask about booking a time.

Try blackcircles.ie. They deliver direct to the fitter and fitting is included in the price. Your fitting appointment is also made when ordering.

I certainly wouldn't take the list of tyre fitters on eiretyres as gospel. Some of them may not have any idea they are even listed there or may no longer fit tyres not bought from them. Even so I wouldn't randomly just get tyres delivered to a premises without at least first squaring it with the owner. They could very easily reject delivery if they don't know whats the story with them. Remember that tyres take up storage space and if you have random people just getting tyres delivered left right and centre and then not showing up for a few days or a week to have them fitted you are then turning your property into a storage area for tyres you didn't sell. It's just messy stuff.

Anytime I buy tyres online I get them delivered to my own address. I usually only need two replaced at a time so they fit in the boot of the car or with the back seat down. I just rock up to the place I know will fit them for me. If they are too busy then I call back another time. If I needed 4 then I'd just get 2 changed at a time and come back another time with the second pair.

Blackcircles are super I have used them and as Kenny says tge booking with the fitter is made as you order, another goid option in thetyrebox.ie they work the same system with an all inclusive price.

Theyve always had them listed as partners though and let you click to have them delivered there (at least years ago when I was buying last). That suggests a proper relationship and pre existing arrangement.

It shouldnt be up to the buyer to make the arrangements. If they dont have it sorted between themselves and the fitters in advance they should'nt suggest that they do.

If people are in work though there might not be anyone in the house to take them. Getting delivered straight to a fitter is a simple solution .

How do you get other parcels that don't fit in a letter box delivered up to now if nobody is at home? If it's any sort of hassle then maybe the least hassle is just go to a bricks and mortar tyre centre and buy the tyres off the shelf.

Maybe it just me but I feel too much like a tramp bringing tyres I bought online and getting them fitted at tyres place. I now ask place that fix alloys to fit them and have no problem doing them

At the moment I have someone at home cos the missus is working from home. Before I just had to collect them from the sorting office.

Theres no shortage of people still working and not at home.

If they are advertising is as an option, the very least they could do is actually provide it as one.
