Car recommendation

Just wondering what car would you recommend. It would have to be cheap to run in terms of Insurance i.e 1 litre. It will only be needed to cover about 5,000km per annum. The budget is between 3-4000 euro. It will be used for both motorway and urban driving.

! litres wont be good for motorway driving especially at that price.
Try find some thing a bit bigger, 1.4or 1.6 petrol, and get a few insurance quotes before buying.

I think this is a bit overpriced, but if the mileage is genuine and its well serviced it would be virtuallly zero risk.

Should be cheap to insure too, and itll manage the motorway far better than a 1 litre.
I'd look at something like this anyway.

Each to their own, I had a 1.3 diesel for the OH for a few years 10 years ago doing similar mileage and no issues.

Ford Fiesta Zetec S is a great 1 Lite car. 125hp

Edit: Missed the budget part of the post. Yeah maybe try find.a 1.2 or 1.4L car that is old enough and hasn't been driven into the ground. Fiesta, Clio, or a Hyundai are some options to consider as a poster said above.

Relative just did second replacement DPF in their 1.3 CDTI Corsa.

Why take the risk when there’s barely a saving to be made.

It depends what the OP means by motorway driving, I wouldn't have suggested a diesel for city driving. Valid points all round.

It equates to a 4 mile trip twice a day, assuming it’s used every day.
Even if it’s only used 3 days a week, that’s 6 10 mile trips on average.

We aren't talking about regular in that word though.... The op is using the motorway to go a couple of kilometres.....

I've seen many daily commuters running micras, Yaris, fiat Punto, 500 etc etc etc...
Not ideal but they can handle it.

It's down to comfort.

Very true but sitting in Dublin traffic you could notice a huge difference, well I could, petrol of course isdirty but the diesels spewing out their crap made a noticeable difference in breathing (to me anyway)

Cleaner fuels, renewable, etc etc is needed and needs to be much more accessible and cheaper for those struggling to get by

Not true in a day in age where you can buy 1 litre cars that come with a turbo meaning it has more Horsepower and higher too speed than some 1.4+L cars.
