We have an old toilet and it's started dripping after flushing.
It's where the water comes into and fills up the cistern.
After flushing it's a good stream but when mostly full the stream slowly narrows to a dribble, after a few minutes the drip stops.

Im trying to link a photo, it's this roundy bit at the top, picture shows the water coming in after a flush.
Is this a reasonable thing for a non-plumber to fix?

That's normal behaviour m8, if it never stops dripping then you will need to replace the washer.

So the dripping started (at least audible enough to hear outside the bathroom) a week ago.
The issue has now continued to grow and the dripping goes on for about 10 minutes.
I don't think this is normal, if it were normal why wouldn't it have been dripping like this previously?

Anyway i'm looking for advice here.
what is the 'washer' and where is it?

When it’s dripping, try lifting the blue float a little higher, see if the drip stops. If it does, you may be able to adjust the cut-off point by turning the small white plastic nut at the end furthest from the large white nut. Inside this large white one is the washer, the float going up and down pushes a plastic piece against the washer, if there’s wear there, you get a drip.

Turn off the water supply to the cistern (Maybe in hot press) and take photos if you’re going to unscrew the valve assembly, makes it easier to reassemble. A plumbers supplier will have everything you need.

Just had a look there, it's actually dripping now all the time.
It's just a real quiet drip until it's flushed.
A good bit of condensation on the cistern too.

When i hold the ball up, the drip is reduced a lot, but still dripping.
