Changing colour of shed

So my OH decided to paint our garden shed a dirty brown colour while I was away last year to weather proof it and I really hate it. I want to change it to a blue grey colour but not sure how it will take over the brown. Is it just a case of giving a couple of coats to make sure the brown doesn’t come through or would I need to do some other prep work before it? Would a paint sprayer ensure a better more even finish?

Presume it's timber. Do you know what paint was used ? I'd imagine you should be ok painting over once in good condition but it will take a few coats.
