Calf drooling

Noticed a 5 week old calf drooling here the last few days. He's in good form otherwise. It seems to hurt him when he drinks. I caught him today and under his tongue has a yellow scabby type buildup. It looks like a build up of dry powder milk, for want of a better description. He's a suckler so cant be that.

Could it be timbertongue? I sprayed under his tongue with iodine. It seem to coincide with, when I started feeding meal to him.

I hope its not diphtheria, I lost a calf already this year with it.

Fook. Is there a disinfectant that would kill it?

How do you treat the calves?

With Diphtheria calves generally have a swelling on the jaw, 4 or 5ml of pen strep for 3 days is what works here.

Pen strep for 5 to 7 days should sort it
