    Hi.
Just laid a 2.5m 3 core armoured cable under a patio.
I'm hoping to get power to this from existing socket in shed, and add an outdoor socket to the other end.

I was thinking I'd add a FCU in between shed socket and armoured cable. Then connect outdoor socket unit to other end of cable.

    Does this sound right?
Does the armoured cable require any special end connections?

Yes it needs those brass ring and screw end to attach to the junction box, the armoured part needs to be then connected into the brass fittings also.

You don't need a fcu unless you're spurring off a ring circuit

A isolating switch is good practice for domestic sockets outdoors

    Thanks all.
The socket in shed is a spur off a ring circuit from kitchen.
I think it should have an FCU added before socket, correct?

So no need for additional RCD?

Actually just checked fuse board and shed has its own, it is not spurred off kitchen

No need for RCD if circuit is protected already

ET101 allows FCUs for appliances on the ring or 16amp sockets fused off the ring , not sure on IS:10101 , I'd say it would be the same

Above doesn't matter if you have an independent circuit to shed , the outbuilding should have an isolator to switch off the shed
