Getting a gravity fed electric shower installed and the installer is recommending the Mira Elite se.

I have no experience of either but would like one that delivers the most pressure and is reliable.

Anyone have either of these units and what are your opinions?

    Thanks.

Mira are famous for cartridge showers. The dial on the wall type of shower. These were a quality product. This leads some people to believe that all of their showers are good. They don't make a quality electric shower. Their customer care stinks & we installers struggle to get them to stand over the warranty.

Plumbers & electricians give advice on what they like installing. For the most part they never see the shower again. They have no idea of what showers cause what problems. A dedicated shower repair company will advise on what brands require repairs more & how many years you can expect to get out of it before replacing.

Problems with the Mira Elite SE would be cheap plastic casings that crack & breaks. They don't sell replacement casings so you'd need to replace the shower. TCOs, solenoids and pump elbows fail a lot. If the motor or element fails even a day out of the warranty its not economical to repair the shower as the parts are so expensive. The shower hose is plastic and not chrome. This bends & breaks a lot. Some last less than a year.

There are 7 or 8 triton electric showers for every 1 mira in Ireland and the UK. The Triton T90sr silent shower is far better quality than the Mira Elite SE. Its slightly quieter too and better customer care. Search through threads here on the mira Elite Qt, Mira Elite SE & the Triton T90sr. You will see a definite pattern. The Mira Elite SE is almost identical to the mira Elite Qt. They replaced the motor & that's it. The SE has all the other issues that the QT had.

Edit: both are 9.8kw @240v in the UK or here in Ireland 9kw @230V. Both have the same pressure. One isn't more powerful than the other

Thanks Sleeper, really appreciate the detailed response. Do new like the Triton is the way to go. Can you advise where to buy here, Dublin or online, to avail of the two year warranty as I've heard that some retailers here (argos) you don't get the same warranty.

Also if we wanted something more stylish is the below comparable to the T90?

Best price for the T90sr is most likely woodies if they have an offer on. Usually its a little cheaper for the installer to supply & fit though. The T90sr is an Irish shower so it buy it anywhere & still get the 2 year warranty.

Anything that isn't a mira Elite SE or Triton t90sr isn't a pumped electric shower. They are mains fed shower. These aren't really suitable for Ireland as they rely on our poor mains water pressure. I you really like one you could install in to the cold water tank in the rather than the mains water & put a shower pump in the hot press. This won't be as quiet as the T90sr though. T90sr comes in a satin finish for an extra 100 euro or so
