It's not Irish citizenship but if anybody knows which agency in France keeps records of French Citizenship, please let me know.

I've enquired with a couple of French friends but due to the labyrinthine nature of Gallic bureaucracy, they don't know. I need to establish if my late grandmother was also French.

    Merci

What make you think they have a specific agency for such a purpose?

Records are not help nationally, but in each municipalities Civil Status Office (which is attached to the Mayors office as he/she is the civil Registrar).

Hi thank you for replying. My grandmother was a refugee in 1919 living in France. I was wondering if there were archives listing French citizens through naturalisation. Pehaps there isn't such thing.

I'm not sure about the birth cert yet but I think so.

I believe it's possible if my mother does this first, even after we were born.

Was she married in Ireland? I think the marriage cert will provide a specific location for birth while will narrow your search.
