MicksGarage.com is quite good as a first port of call.

I have bought from local motor factors, from Micks, from Amazon and ebay.
There is no "one best place".
Spend the hours on research and you will find the best price.

What part are you looking for, is it a routine consumable or something more specific like the drivers side wing for a 1994 Ford Fiesta.

Halfords :D, joke, overpriced place to buy, €20 to fit battery or wiper blades.

There's some people don't even know how to put fuel in their car, Halford's is a godsend for them :pac:

I price checked the local auto factors v a local dealer for service items. There was very little difference in most items and the dealers branded oil was cheaper. I priced another local dealer and they were more expensive for most items. I guess it depends on make and possibly model, but worth a few phone calls.

Very much this. Running an older car I've long done the search everywhere thing. Plus I'm a cheap bugger so... :D I've sourced parts from ebay, direct from Japan, from the manufacturer/authorised dealers, Micksgarage, Mister auto and from local motor factors(though that became less and less in play as the car aged). Of the online crowd I found Mister auto to be very good and with more parts available in general than Micks. I found delivery times about equal between them. Both can be odd when it comes to searching. EG if I go by my car reg they both get the car model right, but you can get different and often more results if going by the make/model/year way of searching. Or even going "backwards" by looking for the part subsection and narrowing it down to the car model there. Micks seem to have more discounted prices, though that's more likely down to the age of my car.

Rejoice in the awareness of feeling stupid, for that’s how you end up learning new things. If you’re not aware you’re stupid, you probably are.

A couple of months ago I had to buy a bi-xenon adaptive headlight for my f10 bmw. Bloody expensive but after days of shopping around i found the cheapest was https://www.onlinecarparts.co.uk/

They had a sale on (seems they often do) and it cost me €700 altogether delivered. Other places were asking anywhere between €800 and €1400.

Item was packaged and delivered in an autodoc box so they might have something to do with them.

I agree with using everywhere when it suits, I did recently save hundreds of euro and source parts that no motor factors in Ireland could get hold of from Autodoc. They took about two weeks to deliver but if you have the time, totally worth the wait.
