    Hi people,

Am asking for my sister who needs a seven seater, has four kids .... she is torn between a 192 ford galaxy or 172 Volvo xc 90 ... I haven't a clue so what do you people suggest ? are the MPV days over ? Many thanks for any advice...

MPVs are still better if you want something specifically for hauling kids around and having maximum space.

I would also explore the likes of an S-Max which is a little smaller but much less mumsy than the Galaxy and cheaper too. Even a Grand C-Max might fit the bill depending on the boot space space needed.

    A lot of used Galaxy’s are ex-rental.

There then is the likes of the Nissan X Trail that will give you 7 seats in a crossover type vehicle. Or a Skoda Kodiaq or Seat Tarracco

An XC90 would be relatively expensive to run and service compared to the likes of a Galaxy.

If it was me, and I just needed lots of seats and space, I’d probably be looking at an Alhambra or Sharan.

SUVs are not all they are cracked up to be. They are not nice to drive and not any fun to drive. They are not as clever or as spacious as an MPV either and an MPV will be better to drive.
Tge S-Max is a great car. Its big but not as big as the Galaxy. Certainly worth a look.
The Opel Zafira Tourer is another worth a look.

    Live long and Prosper

    Peace and long life.
