Finding reg of old car

Hopefully this is ok to post here. Im just wondering if there's possibly a way to find out the reg of a car I previously owned? Tried contacting motor tax but apparently they can't do it. Ive the exact make, model and year but can't remember the full reg. This is going back to 2011.
Im in the process of selling a house and my only hope of getting a nppr redemption cert now for that year is getting a letter of the motor tax with my address is if I give them the car reg for that year and they will do me a letter. Unfortunately we've moved house and had 3/4 cars since then so we've no old letters laying around. Nightmare!

Have you tried your insurance company who would have covered you at that time? They usually destroy documentation after 5/6 years but potentially if you are still with the same company they will have the car on your file? Give them a call, can't see any GDPR issues at it was your own car.

    Any old NCT emails?

Old photos maybe? On the Eflow website, if you were registered there, I can see all cars I've ever had.

If you know most of the reg you could use one of the Cartell etc. free checks to try to enter possible combinations to confirm it.

Also try entering possible registrations in the NCT's booking system.

AFAIK if you try too many regs in the above your IP will be temporarily blocked but there are surely ways around that.

if this isn't practical I would get onto cartell etc. and ask if they could run a custom query on their database, might not be too expensive.

Have you asked family or friends? You never know what strange things some people remember. Do you have a regular mechanic or get work done at a large dealership?

I've had six cars over 40 years and can remember the registration numbers of all of them, maybe that's just me.
Did you ever tax your car online? Email trail?

I've searched my emails, ive found 1 car insurance quote but there's no reg on that and im not sure if I even went with that company in that year but I might give them a call and hopefully find out. Weve also searched through old photos thinking it would be in the background but no joy! I usually do remember all my reg plates but this one is drawing a blank 🀯

You must know some of the reg - should be possible to work it out

No harm in calling them as insurance companies are probably the best for keeping data and with data protection you can request all data that they hold on you.

Any photo's? Maybe ask a few friends? Who serviced it, maybe they have a record of parts of something.
