Hi, finally found something that could fill the specialised single cross hole in my biking, genesis flyer 2021 e.g. https://www.cyclesuperstore.ie/shop/pc/viewPrd.asp?idproduct=158947

Even better, it has disk brakes! But... it's a free wheel. How difficult would it be to replace with fixed gear? I'm a bit rusty, can you just swap out the free wheel for a fixed sprocket? Or are we into a dog walking on 2 feet territory?

Well I am guessing it is probably a single speed sprocket on a free hub
so I don't think you could put a fixed sprocket on it without changing the hub or possibly the wheel. Hard to tell from the hub description. Personally I would just stick with the single speed!!

Edit: Having looked at the freewheel picture close up it may not be a free hub. So you may be able to screw on a fixed sprocket. Give them a ring I guess..

You cannot unscrew a single speed freewheel like that as far as I know. It can only be tightened as the sprocket spins freely in the other direction.

I'd say you can. You just need the right tool. which tool depends on the freewheel type.

    something like this one..

yes, I if it's a free wheel, then single speed can be unscrewed (with a lot of swearing) and replaced with fixed sprocket.
If it's a free hub then it's a different story. And it's hard to tell, not finding any online spec of KT-T58R hub, nor making myself clear with cycle superstore.
And not finding much more details than this https://bikerumor-wpengine.netdna-ssl.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/2021-Genesis-Flyer-singlespeed-all-road-bike_affordable-adventure-ready-alloy-single-speed-gravel-road-bike_details.jpg

Very tempted to just pull the trigger - worst case I'll then be searching for a new hub.

First of all, I'd buy it, it ticks a lot of boxes.
Second of all, no to the track cog. It will fit but that's a BMX cog on it so it is unlikely to be correctly threaded for a lockring so that means your only option is loctite and running a suicide fixed gear, not something I would be over the moon doing, although I have never heard of anyone actually unscrewing it while locking up but it has to be layered in strong loctite and there is always a first time.

Aargh! Just going to pull the trigger and its sold out in my size. Which of you barstewards jumped me?
Anyway, cyclestore got back to confirm it's a free wheel as opposed to a free hub.
(this information further scuppering my chance of acquiring one)
