Bought a cot 2nd hand. Apparently it has been French polished previously. I wasn't aware of this when I bought it but I wanted to paint it. Is this possible or just not worth the hassle? Baby due date in 3 weeks! 😮

Paint doesn’t adhere to well over French polish, peel off easily, best off stripping off the coating and starting painting from the bare timber. So it would require a good bit of work.

As I suspected! I guess it's going to stay brown then :(

Could it be primed with one of the Bin products that get recommended alot here ? No idea, just wondering.

No, in my experience, no primer will work well over French polish, paint will chip easily. Best way is to completely remove French polish and then carry out your normal painting procedure.

How much would it cost, have you any idea?

    Try meths and wire wool.

Probably the price of a new painted cot if not more to get it done professionally.
Good call by lumen, try methylated spirits and wire wool and then sand whatever doesn’t get removed. Good gloves are a must tho when using mets.
