    For anyone who has received illness benefit, how long did you have to wait for payment?

    I'm 22 and have a 10+ year history of mental health problems. Over the last 6 months I have developed pain in my hands and hips and my doctor suspects I have arthritis but is still investigating. My employer mad allowances for my pain condition but they're not working out. My mental health has got to the point where I can't handle even the smallest bit of stress without having a breakdown and so, I've applied for illness benefit as I just can't work right now.

    From my calculation, I have 105 A class PRSI benefits. My doctor is happy to fill out my cert for welfare. I want to quit my job as just can't handle the stress of staying in touch with my employer and giving regular sick certs until my claim is assessed, since I can't work anyways. I don't qualify for SWA because I'm technically a full-time student until I finish my PLC in 7 weeks. Between then and now, I will need to pay my rent.

    So, how long approx. will I have to wait? Can you be rejected for illness benefit if by chance my contributions by their calculation are only slightly under or over? Any relevant advice would be extremely helpful. Thank you so much!
