Hey just hope someone here can help me as I am very confused. Basically I am moving into a property in a Dublin suburb (lots of flats and businesses next to me) and I rang internet providers today to basically be told the most speeds available at that property are 17mbs?
Is this a workable speed? To do the basics, game and my partner works from home? I can’t believe I’m having this issue I didn’t think it was difficult to access internet anywhere in Dublin. There is even a business above my flat so surely they have a faster internet?

I have absolutely no knowledge on the topic so any help/advice on the situation would be great! Thanks

When I was looking to buy a house I always used this url: https://digiweb.ie/broadband-checker/ to know even if it would be worth to apply.

You should get values for upload/download, when WFH you want to have decent upload, minimum 5mb/10mb, the download of 17mb would be enough though.

Interesting so potentially could be ok for now. They said they were improving the masts in next 6 months but they could just say that! Our only other option was one of the sim modems but I’m not sure if we would go over the 750gb.

I'm in a similar situation Dublin suburb and massive business park near by. With a phone line I have terrible broadband according to the checking websites, but the development has Virgin so have good broadband. Does your place have Virgin?

No unfortunately when I rang virgin they told me they don’t provide service to that property. I really didn’t think this would be such a huge issue I feel stupid paying a deposit before even realising this would be this hard :(

Hi there, I am moving to a property next week in Dublin and just found out there is no stable wifi available which I didn’t even think was a thing anymore to be honest. I’m being told by all the major providers the only was to get broadband is through the landline with a copper wire? Also the max speed is 17mbs. Is this workable or what are the options? Thanks for any help anyone can give me!

Please post the same thread only once, even if Amy is your OH.

Both were actually me. Was my mistake I deleted that account cause I don’t know why the username became my name but it didn’t delete the thread. But if a mod could delete I would appreciate.
