Dunboyne commute

    Hi everyone

I'll be starting a job in Dunboyne and I'm trying to pick a location to rent. I'm a single female so I want somewhere that is relatively safe and that I don't need to be super cautious all the time. I run so I want somewhere that is pleasant enough and that I can just run from my house/apartment. I was looking at Chapelizod as an option. Phoenix park is close by and that seems like it should be safe enough. The commute doesn't seem too bad (thinking 30-45 mins avoiding the toll). I'd like to be near some water and the liffey runs right through there. I've a car so I'm not worried by lack of supermarkets.

Would I be right in my assumptions above particularly around commute time and safety? I'm looking at keeping the rent around 1500 and that seems doable there.

As Dunboyne is now connected by rail, you might consider anywhere along the rail line between the city and Dunboyne. Ashtown, Castleknock, Coolmine, Carpenterstown and Clonsilla are all nice, established residential areas within walking distance of train stations on that line and close to Phoenix and other parks. You could still commute by car as you'd be going against the city bound traffic if you didn't fancy the train.

Clonee is also nice with a village feel and a stone's throw from Dunboyne but a bit far from the city for socialising or Phoenix Park if that's a must.

wouldnt know that much about chapilzod as an area but seems to be a nice village and quiet enough....dont think there be too many yahoos around...commuting time would be in or around 25 to 35 mins id say from village to village and theres backroads ect and for running you cant really get better than the phoenix park...another area you might check is ashtown or navan road area...from there its a very short spin to dunboyne and its well seviced by dublin bus if you are going into town for nights out ect and dont want to bring the car plus you are still beside the phoenix park for the running...
