Hi all, as the title says I want to install a smart switch in my hallway to control the hall, outside and landing light. It has to be a 2 way as naturally the landing light is also controlled from a switch upstairs. From a little bit of research it looks like it is possible if I replace both switches but I think where it gets tricky is the switch upstairs is a 2 gang 2 way switch as it also controls a hallway light that is also switched in another location. Can anyone suggest a smart switch that is capable of this or is it even possible? Thanks

You can get wireless switches where you have a controller elsewhere, this can then have say a switch upstairs or downstairs.

Have you looked at Philips hue or similar, no need for re wire or change of original switches

The problem I have is my outside lighting is all led so I can't install smart bulbs and my landing lights are an elaborate fitting that would require multiple smart bulbs that would be quite expensive.

    This is an idea.

I don’t see what your outside lights have to go with it.

You can get smart switches that don’t require a neutral ad they use a capacitor to stay alive

i tried everything to make this work with a no neutral 3 way in the hall and no neutral double on the landing. It was not possible because the up and down are on differnet wiring loops and hence the smart switch "power sources" have a different potential difference. For the 3 way in the hall, I ended up having to just wire the hall and porch and leave the 3rd slot not connected. This is also fine because it all works good with voice control.

i have an attaic stair light which is successfully switching from a single no neutral at bottom of attic stairs and a double no neutral in the attic. This works because both switches are on the same "upstairs" wiring loop and have the same "source".
