Hi. The front of my proposed house has a section that sticks out the front elevation with brick facing.
I didn’t give it any specific measurements on the drawing but apparently the bricks have to be a certain dimension end to end to avoid cutting bricks.. I have a front door and 2 windows in the brick section as well.. will I need to move these positions slightly to Suit bricklaying?
    Thanks

Most likely the Brickie’s on site will work to the full brick/block to avoid this messing about.

They'll lay the brick in such a way as to minimise the amount of cutting involved, theres no point cutting brick if they can work with full bricks

Your window sizes should be to suit brick dimensions too

Hi again. I was looking at this again.
    Some questions :
    Brick is 215mm long x 102.5mm wide x 65mm high.
1)I presume when they are using a half brick, it is the 102.5mm mm end that is used and not the 215mm cut in 2?
    2) i am going to go with the following process..pls tell me if you think it is ok..
    - brickie lays bricks along front elevation to suit bricks ( & himself)..this means that he may be moving openings left or right a little and reducing/increasing the widths of the openings to suit bricks.
-window company will do a measure after blocklayer and can manufacture according to the opes left by the brickie... windows might be different from drawings by 50mm or so..??

3)when blocklaying, after the window is fitted, it is a case of sealing between the window and block and the 25mm of plaster in the reveal then covers the joint....with bricks ...what do you do...i presume you keep the bricks back 25mm and plaster the reveal onto the brick? so you have plastered reveals and brick elevations...?

    4) Lintels - what is the best option with regard lintels and brickwork?
    thanks for yer help

    1. no, they will use the 215 cut in two... you wouldn't turn the cut side into the cavity.

    2. By right you should have the work properly designed, on paper, with the dimensions already worked out... and not being left to decide while its being built.

    3. no, you shouldn't have plaster reveals with a brick outer leaf. the window would be sealed to the brickwork with proprietary sealant. by right you should carry the brickwork about 10mm in front of the window frame as well. see here

    4. steel catnic types

....and usually vertical DPC between brick and window frame.

Also proprietary weepholes, usually at 450mm centres over ope/lintel.
