Huge gap

I’ve a large window at the front of my house it has a concrete sill.
I just noticed that there is a large gap between the sill and the exterior wall brick,
That leads straight into the cavity. It looks like it wasn’t set onto a bed of mortar.

Any ideas what I could use to fill it? I’m afraid to use expanding foam I fear it may displace something?

Expanding foam doesn't really have any pressure to displace anything, and will generally just mold around stuff.

    Any pics?

Here’s a pic of my back door sill near identical gap to the window sill.

Perfect so I’ll be safe to use it then.

I’m shocked they left it like that my neighbours is the same also. I thought they laid those concrete cills on a bed of mortar

expanding foam is not the right thing to fill that gap with. It should be mortar & should also be a DPC under the cill & turned up inside & at both ends but you'll not be able to get that fitted now. probably best to mix mortar with some water proofer through it & fill them gaps. Ensure you pack it in well but not so well that it falls down into cavity.

its extremely hard to see any context in that pic..

that gap could be 3mm or 1 inch.....

I wouldn't put expanding foam on that myself. Mortar and waterproofer, as mentioned above.

Thanks for the reply lads much appreciated. I’ll fill it with mortar need to mix some to repoint some brickwork anyways.
