New Fibre Install Query

I’ve ordered VF 500mb Fibre (on onebigswitch deal) and engineer will install next week according to email. I’m seeing out my 30 days of Eir 100mb (standard copper phone line connection). VF rep said they’d put through order for 20 days time.

The cable runs from pole on street to house eaves and then wall and through a hole in the wall. Will I end up with 2 cables from the pole? (Not a problem?)

I ask as I won’t be getting fibre switched on for another 20days to avoid 2 bills from both VF and eir- according VF rep.

Also don’t need more than the 100mb so who knows what deals available next year! so might be back to fttc :)

Slightly separate, I currently have Unifi LR AC connected to the eir f2000 (with the eir wifi hidden) that serves all our devices. I assume a simple plug out plug in to new VF box?

IMHO you should overlap the services. An extra 40e is much better than 10 days of no connection during a lockdown.

You'll have two cables most likely, install may vary based on whether the new service is OpenEir or SIRO.

Cheers, Yeap in theory they will overlap by 10 days. Was mainly wondering if they add in extra cable from pole (so having fibre and copper) versus them ripping out the copper one and replacing with fibre only. I believe it will be OpenEir and not SIRO.
