Garden reboot - patio drain question

Took advantage of the good weather to take the week off do a reboot on the garden and get the prep done for the patio area with 2" down.

Was planning to put a channel drain next to the path along the back and side of the house. Have some cable to run as well so I will be doing a little more digging out. My problem is the gutter drains are well buried under the paths and very difficult to connect into. Would a natural french drain type soakaway be a better option in this situation?
